Creativity Within Your Daily Practice

After almost 25 years of daily ashtanga practice it is safe to say that I am no stranger to monotony and repetition. Following roughly the same few daily asana recipes provides me with meditative focus, discipline and a welcome clarity about what and how to practice. But also I think I would be eligible to be declared clinically insane if I did not ever struggle and at times hate doing mostly the same thing day after day.
That is why I have come to value versatility in my approach to practice. To have the skill and freedom to tailor my efforts in a posture to suit my different circumstances, moods, energy levels, and even at times my whims is a necessity and a pleasure.
That I sometimes allow myself to be creative in exploring and discovering new possibilities for doing the same old asanas is part of what keeps me in love with my daily practice.
